derbyshireFRIEND (df) is a well-respected registered charity supporting and advocating for the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people as well as their family and friends living and working in Derby and Derbyshire. This post is to support health (sexual Health) initiatives for the LGBT community. This includes community development, outreach, co-facilitation of training and group-work. The candidate should have knowledge of group work and an ability to communicate effectively with others. The post also involves working with partner agencies such as ARC, Health Services, Voluntary Sector, Derby City Council and Derbyshire Constabulary.


LGBT Youth Participation Worker £8.00-£9.00 per hour up to 20 hours a month

We are looking for up to three LGB&T youth participation workers. The successful candidate will join our developing youth work team and will facilitate and work with encouraging wider LGBT youth participation. The post involves working in Derbyshire as well as Derby. We are looking for a candidate with youth work/participation experience. The project is funded by Youth Opportunities Fund and the Local Network Fund.

Healthy Communities - LGB&T & BAME Work 7.5 hours a week (£8.00-£9.00 per hour) (funding is secured for a year)

The candidate will undertake and facilitate work around supporting LGB&T people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. This work will centre in Normanton (Derby) but will look when appropriate at other City areas. The work will be in partnership with other agencies and also will aim to support BAME LGB&T people around HIV, Sexual Health and Wellbeing. The candidate should have a good understanding of diversity and appreciate the need for confidentiality and sensitivity. This post is funded by Small Change.

Healthy LGBT Communities Development Worker £14326(pro-rata) 18.5 hrs per wk (Temporary post for four months)

The candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team at Derbyshire Friend aiming to reduce isolation, incidences of harm and assault, and raise the awareness of LGBT needs. The post will also provide direct support to LGBT people, friends and families. The project will develop LGBT health and wider community initiatives, specifically working in Amber Valley, Erewash and in South Derbyshire. The candidate is expected to have project and group-work experience. The Post is funded through Bridging the Gap and the Community Safety Partnership.
